Our institute is becoming more sustainable!

In 2025, the LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework) program recognised a total of 27 laboratories and scientific platforms at the institute, with 21 Bronze awards and 6 Silver awards.

Among the 62 research groups, 31 have already obtained LEAF certification, representing 50% of the total.

In the case of scientific platforms, 6 out of 14 achieved certification, corresponding to 43%.

These results demonstrate a growing commitment to sustainable laboratory practices and the progressive adoption of the LEAF initiative across the institution.

The LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework) certification is an international program that promotes good sustainability practices in research laboratories. Through a set of criteria organised into levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold), LEAF encourages laboratories to reduce energy and resource consumption, minimise waste, optimise experimental processes, and improve overall operational efficiency.

In addition to helping reduce the environmental impact of laboratories, LEAF certification also contributes to lowering operational costs and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility among researchers and technical staff.

It is currently one of the most widely used tools in Europe to make scientific research more sustainable, without compromising quality or scientific productivity.

With this initiative, we take another step towards reducing the environmental impact of research, lowering operational costs, and strengthening a culture of environmental responsibility in our daily work.

Because high-quality science is also built on sustainability.
