Biological safety cabinets: How to save energy?
Biological safety cabinets consume about half as much as a house. Therefore, like fume hoods, they are at the top-ranked devices in your lab when it comes to energy consumption.
How to save energy?
Keep a minimum of items under the safety cabinet so that the air can flow as efficiently as possible.
Turn off the biological safety cabinets when not in use.
If you use UV light as a steriliser, 30 min is enough time. Longer times of UV light can harm plastic ware under the safety cabinet. Use a timer if integrated to ensure that the UV light is turned off automatically no longer than 30 min.
